Hip-Hop Meets the Music of Senegal Washington Sound Museum XXVI - The Atlas Theatre
After a year of collaborative international concerts from India to Brazil and Ireland, Grammy nominated Progressive Hip-Hop artist Christylez Bacon returns with instrumentalist, songwriter and singer in 6 languages Jean-Francis Varre to explore the intersections of Hip-Hop, Go-Go, and the music of Senegal backed by the Washington Sound Museum Orchestra.
WSM is a cross-cultural, collaborative experience for both the audience and the artists, introducing guests to music and dance from around the neighborhood and around the world. This performance, with Christylez’ nine-piece hip-hop orchestra and Jean-Francis’ Senegalese ensemble will be a truly unique melding of cultures.Prior to each performance, guests can enjoy a cultural dance presentation and workshop at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, that will explore the connection of West-African and contemporary urban dance styles.
